A Comprehensive Guide to Wholesale Dates Prices in Malaysia

Kurma medjool Palestine

Wholesale dates prices in Malaysia are easiest to understand variety by variety, with real numbers. This guide uses one Malaysian date wholesaler's price list, checked on 24 October 2026, and walks through what each variety cost that month, how the packing format changes the price per kilo, and which lines were out of stock. Treat every figure as an October 2026 reference. Prices change, so ask for a fresh quote before you order.

Malaysia has no commercial date-growing trade. Every date sold here is imported, which is why each section below starts with where the variety comes from.

Prices by variety, October 2026

Mariami, the cheapest per kilo

Mariami is a dark, semi-dry, chewy date from Iran. It had the lowest per-kilo price of any date in stock on the check date: the Mariami A Normal 5kg carton at RM75, or RM15 a kilo. The Mariami AA 5kg was RM129 (RM25.80 a kilo) and the Mariami AAA VIP 5kg was RM148 (RM29.60 a kilo). For a smaller buy, the 1kg Mariami AAA was RM40.

Safawi has the widest grade range

Safawi comes from the Madinah region of Saudi Arabia. It is longer than Ajwa, dark brown to black, soft and chewy. Five 5kg Safawi cartons were in stock, and their prices show how far grade alone can move a price:

Safawi 5kg carton RM RM per kg
Premium A No.2 (Mini) 80 16.00
Premium A No.1 (Small) 95 19.00
Premium AA 153 30.60
Premium AAA 163 32.60
Premium Jumbo 195 39.00

The 1kg Safawi A was RM35 and the 1kg Safawi AAA Jumbo was RM45.

Ajwa in cartons and 1kg packs

Ajwa comes from Madinah. It is a small, roundish, near-black date with finely wrinkled skin, and it is also sold in Malaysia under the market name "Kurma Nabi". Two Ajwa cartons were in stock: the Ajwa Premium A No.1 (Small) 5kg at RM115 (RM23 a kilo) and the Ajwa Premium VIP AAA 5kg at RM175 (RM35 a kilo). The 1kg packs were RM31 for Ajwa A, RM36 for Ajwa AA and RM44 for Ajwa AAA VIP (Large).

Medjool at the top of the list

Medjool is a large, very soft date with a rich caramel taste. The Medjool on this list is labelled as from Palestine. It was the dearest variety in stock, from RM56 a kilo for the Medjool Premium Jumbo 5kg (RM280) to RM77.78 a kilo for a single 900g Medjool Jumbo box (RM70). The Medjool Super Jumbo 5kg was RM315, or RM63 a kilo. Every Medjool Large listing was out of stock on the check date.

Deglet Noor on the stem, and Sukari

Deglet Noor comes from Tunisia and Algeria. When it is sold on the stem in Malaysia it is called kurma tangkai, and this list calls it "bertangkai". Only one Deglet Noor pack was in stock: 12 packets of 400g, bertangkai, at RM88, or RM18.33 a kilo.

Sukari is a golden-amber, very sweet date from Al-Qassim, sold soft (rutab) or drier. The Rotab Sukkary Premium 3kg pack was RM63, or RM21 a kilo.

Packing format changes the price per kilo

The same grade often appears on a wholesale list in more than one format: a carton, a dozen packets, or a set of small pouches. In the three cases below, the smaller formats cost more per kilo. The Mariami AA and Safawi AA pouch packs and the 20 × 250g and 30 × 227g Deglet Noor packs were out of stock on the check date, but their listed prices still show the gap. The two 5kg cartons and the Deglet Noor 12 × 400g pack were in stock.

  • Mariami AA: the 5kg carton was RM25.80 a kilo. The 12 × 400g pouch pack (RM153) worked out at RM31.88 a kilo, and the 24 × 200g pouch pack (RM147) at RM30.62.
  • Safawi AA: the 5kg carton was RM30.60 a kilo. The 24 × 200g pouch pack (RM185) worked out at RM38.54 a kilo.
  • Deglet Noor bertangkai: the 12 × 400g pack was RM18.33 a kilo. The 20 × 250g pack (RM158) worked out at RM31.60 a kilo and the 30 × 227g pack (RM188) at RM27.61.

The three in-stock Medjool Jumbo listings, not counting Premium or Super Jumbo, are less tidy. A single 900g box was RM70, or RM77.78 a kilo, and eight 900g packs cost RM448 (RM62.22 a kilo). Yet twelve 500g packets cost RM355, which is RM59.17 a kilo and cheaper per kilo than the 900g packs. A second 12 × 500g Medjool Jumbo listing at RM290 (RM48.33 a kilo) was out of stock. Work out the per-kilo figure for each listing rather than assuming the bigger pack wins.

A carton gives the lowest per-kilo price only if you can use or sell 5kg of one grade. If you need ready-sized packets for resale or for gifts, the packet price is the figure to compare across sellers.

Out of stock on the check date

A wholesale list also shows what you cannot buy that week. On 24 October 2026 every 12 × 600g rotab pack was out of stock, including Rotab Mazafati AAA (RM86) and Rotab BAM AAA (RM88). The Mabroom Madinah AA 5kg (RM230), the Mashrook Madinah AAA Jumbo 5kg (RM105) and the Kurma Muda Palestine 5kg (RM125) were out of stock too. So were the Mariami A no.2 5kg (RM68), the cheapest 5kg Mariami on the list, the Mariami AA 5kg (No.2) (RM80) and the Ajwa Premium A No.2 (Mini) 5kg (RM95).

How to read any wholesale dates price

Grades such as A, AA, AAA and Jumbo are each importer's own size sorting, not an international standard. An AA from one wholesaler and an AA from another are not automatically the same fruit, so compare price per kilo within one list first, then ask a second seller for the same pack weight.

Demand for dates peaks before and during Ramadan. Hari Raya, weddings, kenduri and umrah gifts bring other busy periods. If your order is for one of those, check prices and stock close to the date rather than relying on October figures.

For a real order, confirm three things: the price that week, the exact pack weight and whether the item is in stock. Dates Supplier Malaysia's about page describes the site, its contact page gives a WhatsApp number for questions, and the blog has more articles on buying dates.
